San Francisco Women Against Rape provides resources, support, advocacy and education to strengthen the work of all individuals, and communities in San Francisco that are responding to, healing from, and struggling to end sexual violence. At SFWAR, we believe that no single individual, organization, foundation, or business alone can stop the epidemic of sexual assault, but by responding as a whole community, we each bring our piece of the solution.
SFWAR is a women of color led, volunteer-based organization that has provided rape crisis services to survivors of sexual assault for over 30 years. As the primary provider of rape crisis services in San Francisco, we also offer support to friends and families of survivors and provide expert advice, training, and assistance to healthcare workers, medical professionals, educators, law enforcement officers and other professionals throughout the city. Our prevention programs have reached young people in classrooms in schools serving every area of San Francisco, and provided information and resources to people of all ages through community programs, social services, and numerous community events. All our services are confidential and free of charge.DOWNLOAD NEWSLETTERS

Surviving & Thriving: Celebrating the Phenomenal Women in Our Lives
When: Thursday, September 29th, 5:30-9pm
Where: 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna @ 2nd Street, San Francisco
Surviving is important. Thriving is elegant. ~ Maya Angelou
Think of a woman who has inspired you, moved you, empowered you. Whether it be a mother or a sister, a roommate, a friend or a co-worker, we have all been impacted by a phenomenal woman. These are the women who are honored and celebrated at Surviving & Thriving: Celebrating the Phenomenal Women in Our Lives.
An extraordinary event bringing together the amazing women in our lives - and the men that love them - Surviving & Thriving was created to celebrate and honor women and to benefit WOMAN, Inc (www.womaninc.org) and SFWAR, two Bay Area organizations that support women survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Surviving & Thriving will include music, cocktails and a silent auction, and through both this event and related outreach, commits to raising awareness and educating the community on the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.
